Configure the system to allow Active Directory users to log in to the Proxmox system.
This assumes that Active Directory Domain Services is running on the local network.

| [1] |
Refer to this guide to configure your Active Directory to connect via LDAPS. |

| [2] |
Create an AD user in Active Directory for Proxmox connections. |
| [3] | Log in to the Proxmox VE management console as an administrator user, select your hostname in the left pane, and then select [DNS] in the right pane. |
| [4] | Click the [Edt] button at the top to register your Active Directory domain and IP address. |
| [5] | Select [Datacenter] in the left pane, and then click [Realms] in the right pane. |
| [6] | Click the [Add] button at the top and select [Active Directory Server] from the menu. |
| [7] | Enter the minimum required Active Directory information. For Windows Server 2025, the [Mode] field requires [LDAPS]. After entering the required information, go to the [Sync Options] tab at the top. |
| [8] | Enter the AD username and password you created in advance for the connection. Other fields are optional. If everything is correct, click the [Add] button. |
| [9] | Once a new entry is registered, it will appear in the list. With the entry selected, click the [Sync] button at the top. |
| [10] | Select [Users and Groups] for [Scope] and click the [Sync] button. |
| [11] | If there are no connection issues, the user information in the Proxmox system will be updated. |
| [12] | User information can be viewed under [Datacenter] - [Users]. |
| [13] | On the login screen, specify the registered AD realm in [Realm] and log in with your AD username and password. Windows is case-insensitive, but the Proxmox system is, so you must specify the username exactly as it is. |
| [14] | If you can log in successfully, the connection settings with Active Directory are OK. Note that even if you log in to the management console with only normal user privileges, the operations you can perform are limited. However, by granting administrator privileges to the AD user for the Proxmox VE system, as described in [5] and later, you can perform a variety of management operations. |
