Add Storage (Local Disk)2026/04/16 |
Add storage to the Proxmox host. In this example, we will add a newly installed empty local disk to the Proxmox server as a new storage device. |
| [1] | Log in to the Proxmox VE management console as an administrator user, select the [Hostname] in the left pane, and click [Disks] in the right pane to display a list of local disks. In this example, we will create and configure a partition on the newly added [/dev/vdb]. |
| [2] | You can create partitions from the menu under [Disks]. You should select according to the purpose of your system. In this example, we will proceed with [LVM-Thin]. Click the [Create Thinpool] button at the top. |
| [3] | Select the newly added disk in [Disk] and set an arbitrary pool name in [Name]. |
| [4] | Once the pool is created successfully, it will appear in the list. |
| [5] | The storage you create will be available as usable storage space when creating virtual machines or containers. |
